Description
Gold-coated glass slides are ideal for applications in optical characterization of materials via ellipsometry or reflection spectroscopy, especially for infrared (IR) spectroscopy.
Gold thin films with a thickness of 100-nanometers (100-nm) exhibit low overall optical transmission, with a maximum transmission at a wavelength of light of 500 nanometers. These films exhibit mirror-like reflection (>90% reflection) at wavelengths longer than 600-nm. However, gold thin films exhibit significant light absorption (%reflection < 50%) at wavelengths shorter than 500-nm.
