Aluminum Thin Films
Aluminum on Microscope Slides
Aluminum on Silicon Wafers
Aluminum on Silicon Chips
Aluminum is one of the most widely used metals. Aluminum is light weight, a good conductor of heat and electricity, and has high reflectivity. Aluminum is often used for reflective optical components in telescopes, headlamps and LEDs. A thin surface layer of oxide forms at the air interface of the aluminum film, which protects the metal against corrosion.
In research and development, aluminum thin films find use in the following applications:
- Synthesis of Nanoporous aluminum oxide via anodization
- Aluminum oxide nanopores for bio sensors
- Plasmonic devices
- Reflective coatings
- Patterned surface electrodes (finger-type, interdigitated)
- Substrates for material analysis via UV/vis and IR spectroscopy
