For immediate release:

Platypus Technologies, LLC and SKC, Inc. have entered into a development agreement focused on the use of Platypus’ patented liquid crystal (LC)-based sensing technology for air monitoring applications. SKC, Inc., a company based in Eighty Four, PA, is a leader in sampling technologies and develops, markets, and sells primarily air quality monitoring products for various applications. The agreement enables Platypus to develop its first commercial product based on the core LC technology and SKC to market and sell the LC-based gas sensors for occupational hygiene applications. Dr. Bharat R. Acharya, Director of Sensor Development at Platypus, comments, “During the last few years, Platypus has focused on developing the LC technology for defense applications. There is an unmet need for gas sensing technologies that are low cost and effective for use in occupational hygiene settings. This partnership with SKC, a company that is well-established in this market segment with a strong customer network, will accelerate entry of our LC-based products into the commercial market.”
