Cell Migration & Invasion Assays

Cell Migration & Invasion Assays by Platypus Technologies use exclusion zone technology to ensure consistent cell-free regions for each experiment.  The Oris™ and Oris™ Pro Cell Migration and Invasion assays enable accurate and reproducible quantification of cell movement.

Cell Migration Assays

Advantages:

cba_PrePost

  • Industry-standard 96- or 384-well formats
  • Real-time monitoring
  • Quantification with plate readers, microscopes or high-content imagers
  • No artificial membranes
  • Use Oris™ for maximal assay flexibility
  • Use Oris™ Pro for full automation with high Z factors

Characteristics

Oris™ stoppers create cell-free detection zone

Oris™ Cell Migration assays use physical “stopper” barriers to create a central cell-free detection zone in the center of each well of a 96-well plate.

  • Seed cells around the stoppers, then simply remove stoppers when cells have adhered to the surface to start the assay. Choose tissue culture treated, collagen I coated, or fibronectin coated plates.
  • Use Oris™ for maximal flexibility in assay design.
  • Use Oris™ if your cells require a long adhesion period.
  • Use Oris™ with the Oris™ Detection Mask for analysis on plate readers that lack virtual masking.
Bio-Compatible Gel at center of wells

Oris™ Pro Cell Migration assays use a soluble gel to create a central cell-free detection zone in the center of each well of 96- or 384-well plates.

  • Seed cells directly in the wells manually or with a dispensing robot; the assay can start after the gel dissolves – no washes are needed as the gel is non-toxic.
  • Use Oris™ Pro for simplest assay setup and full automation.
  • Use Oris™ Pro for High-Throughput Screening (HTS).
  • Use Oris™ Pro for lowest cost per data point.
  • Use Oris™ Pro for highest quality optics.

Cell Invasion Assays

Cell Invasion assays allow you to monitor cell movement through an extracellular matrix, in three (3) dimensions.  Cell invasion is of particular concern in cancer research, where invading tumor cells lead to metastasis, the deadliest aspect of the disease.

Platypus Technologies’ Cell Invasion Assays allow you to monitor real-time cellular behavior in a physiological relevant micro-environment that more closely resembles in vivo conditions.

Advantages:

  • Invasion Assay mimics in vivo conditions
  • Easy to use
  • No artificial membranes
  • Real-time monitoring
  • Quantification with plate readers, microscopes or high-content imagers

Oris™ 3D Invasion assays use physical “stopper” barriers to create a central cell-free detection zone in the center of each well of a 96-well plate.

Oris™ Pro Invasion is your bridge between the 2D and 3D world. After cell adhesion, the cells are overlaid with a thick collagen layer to allow cells to transition from a 2D culture to a 3-dimensional invasion culture.
